The One Where I Make Breakfast

Growing up, my mom always made sure we had breakfast before leaving for school.  In high school, as we started seminary {seminary is like an early morning Bible study before school while you're in high school}, she would still get up before all of us and make a good breakfast.  There was always something different.  Bacon and eggs.  Breakfast pizza.  Arepas.  Pancakes.  Belgium waffles.  It goes on.  Breakfast is the most important meal of the day.

A few months ago I noticed I was spending a ridiculous amount of money on breakfast at McDonald's on my way to work.  About $5.00 each time.  3-4 times a week.  What a waste of money!!  I decided enough was enough.  Now, I do still get the occasional Martin's Breakfast Special on days I'm running late, but it's much less than 3-4 times a week.  More like once every few weeks.

As I've mentioned in several previous posts, Michael is the cook in the house.  He's the grill master.  He's pretty much amazing with anything.  And since doing eMeals, he's always had the dinner we picked out ready when I get home from a long day.  For awhile I felt pretty useless.  He was always making dinner, but I was rarely contributing to the cooking.  I decided to start cooking breakfast.  Most days {well, almost every day} it consists of a bacon and pepper jack cheese English muffin for him and a bacon, egg, and cheddar cheese English muffin for me.  Most of the time he's still in bed or about to get off from working an overnight shift, so I wrap it up aluminum foil, write a cute little note on it, and stick it in the fridge for when he's ready.  I know, I'm so thoughtful.  Ü  {Yesterday we decided to make chocolate chip pancakes.  Oh.  My.  Yum!}

I've tried to be more appreciative of everything Michael does and make him feel like I really am thankful for all the hard work he puts into the house.  I thank him every time he makes dinner, does the dishes, or starts the laundry.  We're coming up on our first anniversary and I think it is so incredibly important that he knows that I see the things he does.  And I am so thankful for those things.  I really hope he knows that.

I'm stuck with him forever, so I better learn some more ways to show him how much I appreciate him.  Ü  Any suggestions?  I'd love to hear them!
