Five Question Friday {Sept 21}

Good morning, folks.  It's a beautiful, brisk Friday morning and can I tell you, I am so excited about fall starting tomorrow!  Seriously...PUMPED.  Fall is by far my favorite season in GA.  Mainly because the only thing winter brings is ice and the frigid cold.  No snow.  *sadpanda*  But in the fall all the leaves turn beautiful colors and the mountains look amazing...ahhh...I freaking love it!

Anyway, not much planned this weekend actually, which is probably a good thing.  Our "Get Fit" challenge has it's first group on Saturday along Silver Comet trail.  I'm pretty stoked about that.  Other than that...probably some cleaning.  May try to make it to the dog park on Saturday as well.  OH!  And most importantly, my parents are coming home! Ü  Not sure I mentioned this, but they have been in Louisiana working with FEMA for almost three weeks now.  I'm pretty much the biggest mama's girl ever, so it's been tough for me.  But they'll be home soon!!  ...And then they'll be leaving to go to FL for a month.  But then DISNEY in October!  Wow, I'm really getting ahead of myself.

five. question. friday.

1. What is one grammar issue you cannot let go without correction?

I can only pick one?! Seriously, this is hard for me.  I'm pretty much a grammar Nazi.  My mom says things like "He played real good" a lot, or something along those lines and I always repeat, "He played real what?"  It drives me crazy!!  Comma splices are another thing.  I have been known to proofread syllabi for class before and point out the grammar issues.  Maybe I should have been an English major.

2. What's your favorite thing about fall?

Oh MY!  Where do I begin?  The weather is amazing!!  The colors are remarkable!!  The smells are HEAVENLY!  Cool brisk mornings.  Halloween!!  All the leaves.  Corn mazes.  Seriously, I could go on.  Oh...and Daylight Savings Time ends!!  Fall back, y'all!!

3. What's your favorite dish to take to a potluck?

Well, for one, I don't normally go to potlucks.  I picked up this "thing" from my mom.  I don't trust foods that come from kitchens I haven't seen.  It's frightening to me.  So, as far as taking a dish?  I'd have to say a salad of some sort {pasta, potato, etc.}.

4. When do you start Christmas {Holiday} shopping?

The week before?  Honestly, I don't have a set time, but I usually don't start thinking about it until November.  We tried to do it earlier this year, but with our very large families, I think we're going to axe the Christmas gift giving to everyone except the niece and nephews.  It just gets too expensive.

5. Did you move homes a lot growing up?

Well, I was an Army brat.  So...yes.  And I actually really miss it.  Looking back, there was something pretty awesome about being in a new place.  But thinking about it now, I probably don't have the courage to get up and move.  I'd miss the familiarity and my family way too much.

Comments

  1. Heh, the "good" thing makes me crazy. I saw a bumper sticker that said something along the lines of, "Do you follow Jesus this close?" My first thoguht was, "that's kind of cute." My second thought was, "it's 'closely', it's an adverb, I kill you!"

  2. I love potlucks although I have to watch what I eat because of my allergies. At one potluck everyone brought brownies and nothing else.

  3. Oh, moving frequently as a child I think would've been so hard, but I never did make friends all that easily.

    And I worked in a call center for many, many years, where pot lucks are almost a ritual. I've had people on many of my teams who were varying degrees of phobic about other people's food; most of them stuck to eating the store-bought items.
